GREEN8 CSR Activities
1．Conservation of forest in Japan
Following our philosophy for sustaining green global environment for the next generation, GREEN8 is actively involved in conservation of forest near it’s headquarter in Matsudo, Chiba, Japan through the activities of “Save the Green @ Akiyama”. The community based forest (Satoyama) near each village and town is no longer a healthy wood not just in Matsudo but across Japan. Save the Green@Akiyama organizes a seasonal event along with local volunteers on the 2nd Saturday of each month in which participants enjoy the fresh outdoor forest and also volunteer to preserve the wood and bamboo forest. Also, nature game and book reading sessions are arranged so that children get touch with nature and feel the importance of green, and respectively grow into a responsible generation of adults to preserve forest.
2.Developmental assistance for children and women in Myanmar
Developmental assistance for children and women leads to poverty reduction and sustainable next generation. As a result, GREEN8 supports charity activities of NGO that work on children’s education in Myanmar (SOCIA) http://www.ngo-sosia.net/）in which also supports orphanage near Yangon. We also support activities of Bridge Asia Japan (BAJ)that assist in income generation through vocational training for women in rural area whom are at discrimination.
3.Green urban development in Japan
Sustainable green environment is vital for reduction of CO2. GREEN8 is actively involved in coordinating industry-academia-government collaboration in a project in Matsudo, Japan. The project which has started in Nov 2015 involves Chiba University Faculty of Horticulture, as well as local authorities at Matsudo-shi, Chiba prefecture to plan tree at space available in front of the train station.
④ Building a better future for animals
One of GREEN8 goal is to contribute towards creation of healthy and sustainable environment for human and animals. Hence, animal welfare is inseparable part of GREEN8’s vision. Unfortunately, animal abuse and neglect are still significant in Japan. During 2019, more than 32,000 cats and dogs were put down at Japan animal health centers across Japan. GREEN8 considers its duty to help different organizations and programs to provide better future for Animals, and that is why we actively support “Heart Tokushima” – a nonprofit organization established in 2006 by Canadian Susan Mercer with the long-term goal of developing an animal rescue center in the Shikoku area and decreasing the stray dog and cat population through spay/neuter. GREEN8 supports Heart Tokushima’s activities including rescue, care and re-homing of stray, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. Heart Tokushima also conducts and promotes spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership through education and supportive means.
